Questions

The ones we get most, answered properly rather than reassuringly.

4 questions

The aircraft

Is a single-engine jet safe?

Engine count is a proxy for what people actually care about, which is what happens when something goes wrong. A twin adds a second engine and a demanding asymmetric-thrust emergency. The Vision Jet adds a whole-airframe parachute and a one-button emergency autoland — answers to more failure modes, including pilot incapacitation, which a second engine does nothing about. Every Halcyon flight is also flown by a professional pilot current on this type alone.

How many passengers fit?

Four, every flight, with 32 cubic feet of baggage. The airframe is certified for more, but four is the load that works with fuel and luggage on a regional leg, so it is the number we quote against.

How fast and how far does it go?

Maximum cruise is 311 KTAS with a book range of 1,275 nm. Halcyon plans at 305 knots and to a conservative 1,000 nm with full IFR reserves. Typical cruise altitude is FL280.

Is the cabin pressurised?

Yes, with a service ceiling of 31,000 feet. The engine is mounted above and behind the cabin rather than beside it, which makes it considerably quieter than a turboprop over a long leg.

Booking and cost

How much does a charter cost?

It depends principally on block time and positioning, so a headline hourly rate would mislead. We quote one all-in figure covering flight time, positioning, fuel, federal excise tax, and landing and handling at both fields. The Vision Jet is structurally the least expensive jet to charter per hour because it has one engine rather than two.

How far in advance should I book?

Many legs can be arranged inside 24 hours when the aircraft is available, which is much of the point for site visits and escalations. Quarter-end, major industry conferences, and event weeks book out further. We will tell you when a date is genuinely tight rather than holding the request open.

What is included in the price?

Flight time both directions, positioning where it applies, fuel, federal excise tax, landing and handling at both fields, and crew costs. No baggage fees. De-icing and airport-specific charges outside our control are flagged in advance where relevant.

Do you charge for the empty return leg?

If the aircraft returns to base without you, that flying is real and appears in the quote. We identify it clearly and will suggest alternatives — a different departure field or day — where they reduce it.

The trip itself

How early do I arrive before departure?

About ten minutes. No security screening, no bag drop, no gate. You park at the private terminal, walk to the aircraft, and depart.

What can I bring?

Thirty-two cubic feet of baggage with no per-bag fee and no airline size template. Luggage, sample cases, displays, and non-hazardous tooling all travel routinely. Weight is the real constraint on longer legs, so tell us what you are bringing when you request a quote. We cannot carry hazardous materials.

Can we hold a confidential conversation on board?

The only other person aboard is the pilot, which is materially different from a commercial cabin and is one practical reason deal and diligence teams charter during live processes.

What happens in bad weather?

The aircraft is certified for flight into known icing and cruises above most weather at FL280, which is what makes winter dispatch into northern industrial markets dependable rather than hopeful. Dispatch still depends on conditions at both fields. If a departure is not sensible we will say so and reschedule rather than launch and divert.

Which airports can you use?

Roughly five thousand U.S. airports have enough runway for this aircraft. Halcyon publishes 2026 routes between 74 business markets, capped at 600 nm so every one is a same-day round trip. That is where we go most, not the limit of where we can go.
